Beachside at the Newport
The design of this home was centered around capturing the lake view behind the home and bringing it in to become a part of the home. The Newport design was derived from the floor plan of the Lake House and tweaked to maximized this view and make you feel like you’re sitting on the beach next to the lake when you’re watching TV in your living room. A barrel vault that carries into the outdoor patio and large windows that open the home up to the spectacular view out of the back of the home help create this effect, but to really dramatize the feeling of being on the water you need the sound of water. To create this, this home featured a 2-story indoor waterfall down a round wall near the entry of the home that fills the home with the sound of running water, constantly reminding you of what surrounds you outside. Among its many features, the design incorporated a master laundry center to alleviate the burden of carrying laundry across the home, an Office and Formal Dining Room, a guest suite, and a 12-sided bar in the basement. This bar has with windows for light, a raised counter for seating, and plenty of cabinetry to accommodate many guests. Being in a social neighborhood on the lake, this house was also built to entertain. The back patio is a raised concrete patio with plenty of lighting and space to enjoy the beautiful outdoor Colorado world, and the open floorplan inside incorporates all the main areas of the home into one entertainment area.
